Although Wellspring was founded as a charity and limited company in 2003, it wasn’t until 2005 that we purchased a house in Starbeck (2 Prospect Rd) to run our counselling sessions and coordinate our training services from.
Due to increasing demand we have found ourselves outgrowing the premises we are in and realised we needed to move. Our waiting list has grown and to combat this we have recruited more volunteer counsellors. Our staff and volunteer team have grown to over 40 people. This means we are now running at capacity in our current building and need more space to run our service.
Our vision in moving is to not only extend our current services, but empower us to respond creatively to the needs of our clients through developing new services.
The property at 78 High Street in Starbeck seems ideal for our work, due to its location (only half a mile from where we are now) and size. We are grateful and encouraged that the Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation understand the needs of our clients and believe in our ambitions. They have bought the Starbeck property for a significant sum and will be sheltering Wellspring with a long lease. However, the costs of altering and refurbishing the property to meet our needs is down to us – thus the need to raise £236,000.
We have planning permission to re-design this building to make it suitable as a counselling and training centre. We would like to have specific areas for working with young people, disability access throughout most of the building, providing play therapy facilities, group and training rooms and even an outdoors therapeutic space.
To date we have raised £183,000 – please will you pray with us for our progress and for the remainder of the funds to come in? The building work has now started and we hope to move into our new premises in Spring/Summer 2018.

In May 2017 we launched Come Dine With Us, a special fundraising event for our building project. Find out how it works here and how you could get involved!
