Wellspring moved to its new premises on 78 High Street, Starbeck in August 2018.
Although Wellspring was founded as a charity and limited company in 2003, it wasn’t until 2005 that we purchased a house in Starbeck (2 Prospect Rd) to run our counselling sessions and coordinate our training services from.
Due to increasing demand we found ourselves outgrowing the premises at 2 Prospect Road and realised we needed to move. Our waiting list had grown and to combat this we recruited more volunteer counsellors. Our staff and volunteer team grew to over 40 people. That meant we were running at capacity in our old building and needed more space to run our service.
Our vision in moving is to not only extend our current services, but empower us to respond creatively to the needs of our clients through developing new services. Our new premises will have specific areas for working with young people, disability access throughout most of the building, provide play therapy facilities, group and training rooms and even an outdoors therapeutic space.
The property at 78 High Street in Starbeck is ideal for our work, due to its location (only half a mile from the previous property) and size. We are grateful and encouraged that the Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation understand the needs of our clients and believe in our ambitions. They bought the Starbeck property for a significant sum and will be sheltering Wellspring with a long lease. However, the costs of altering and refurbishing the property to meet our needs was down to us. A big thank you to everyone who has donated to our building project and helped us raise £300,000!
