Introduction to Counselling children and Young People (11-18) – 9th, 10th, 16th & 17th May 2025

Aim:

This course aims to give counsellors the competences and basic skills required to begin working with Children and Young People (11-18).

Who is this for?

The course is for:

  • Counsellors already qualified to work with adults at Level 4 or above who want to start working with Children and Young People and begin to work towards more formal qualification in Counselling Children and Young People (11-18).
  • Trainee counsellors on an adult focused course at level 4 or above who wish to undertake some of their placement hours working with Children and Young People (11-18).

What will it cover:

The content is based on the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Stage 1 counselling children and young people curriculum (11-18).

It is a four-day course and will cover:

  • Communication with Young People
  • Child & Adolescent Development & Transitions
  • Mental Health & Young People
  • Risk Assessments
  • Child Protection & Safeguarding
  • Ethical & Professional practice (Ethics and the rights of the YP)
  • Working within the context of a counselling setting
  • Beginnings & Endings with Young People

Fees:

£400 – Introduction course only

£1500 – Introduction and Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People (11-18)

Prices include VAT, CPD certificate and light refreshments.
